What is a standing charge on an energy bill?

A standing charge is a fixed daily fee you pay your energy supplier regardless of how much gas or electricity you use. It covers the cost of maintaining your connection to the grid.

Can I get a tariff with no standing charge?

A small number of tariffs have no standing charge but usually have higher unit rates instead. They can save money for very low-usage households.
